LMCTC Training and Celebration Session November 14, Seattle, WA
The National League of Cities is excited to announce we will be hosting a free, invitation-only training session on Let’s Move! Cities, Towns and Counties on November 14 from 9 am to 12 pm in Seattle, WA. This session is open only to local elected officials, city/county staff and local partners from communities participating in Let’s Move! Cities, Towns and Counties.
This session will provide in-depth information, technical assistance and training on achieving the initiative’s five goals, and will also provide an opportunity for participants to set priorities for their LMCTC work with assistance from peer cities/counties and subject matter experts, including our federal partner, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
For LMCTC sites that have not yet started work on the five goals or recently joined LMCTC, this session will provide an in-depth orientation on the five goals, discuss how to build local partnerships, review how to complete your medal status survey and highlight opportunities to share your progress. For LMCTC sites that have already received medals in some goal areas, this session will provide a refresher course on the initiative and review opportunities for recognition. LMCTC sites will also have the opportunity to work with peers and subject matter experts to identify next steps for action when returning home.
Following this event, from 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm, NLC will host a special celebration event recognizing the achievements of LMCTC participating cities, towns, and counties in all LMCTC sites and bestowing special recognition on top achievers. This event will take place in Room 602-604 in the Washington State Convention Center.
Please RSVP to Elena Hoffnagle at lmctc@nlc.org as soon as possible but no later than November 6, 2013. Do not hesitate to contact Tracy Wiedt (202-626-3002) or Elena Hoffnagle (202-626-3012) with questions or for additional information.
Finally, this training is occurring in conjunction with two NLC conferences taking place in Seattle that week:
- As you may know, the National League of Cities Congress of Cities and Exposition is taking place from November 13-16, which this training is part of. This annual gathering is an opportunity for thousands of city leaders—mayors, council members, and senior staff from cities and towns of all sizes from across the country—to engage with one another and hear from subject matter experts on critical local issues. Visit www.nlc.org/CoC for more information.
- The 2013 National Summit on Your City’s Families – hosted by the National League of Cities and its Institute for Youth, Education, and Families – will take place from November 12-14.
