Celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Let's Move!
February 9, 2015 marks the 5th anniversary of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative, which was launched in 2010 with the goal of ensuring that all kids can grow up healthy and have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. We encourage you to celebrate this 5th anniversary by hosting an event, meeting, or special activity in your city, town or county during the month of February to showcase the accomplishments you’ve made or plan to make later this year.
As local elected officials and city leaders, your unique role as a convener in your community is critical to bringing various partners, constituents, and other stakeholders to the table to improve children’s health. We’ve created a starter list of event and action ideas for you to consider, but feel free to be creative in how you celebrate! You’ll notice these activities complement the five goals of Let’s Move! Cities, Towns and Counties.
We want to hear how you are celebrating the anniversary! Please share your event plans with us by sending event details and photos to Elena Hoffnagle at Hoffnagle@nlc.org. We’ll use the information provided to post event information from around the country at www.HealthyCommunitiesHealthyFuture.org and to share with the Let’s Move! family through newsletters and blogs.
This is a wonderful opportunity for you to share and celebrate the accomplishments and activities you are working on to improve the health of your community’s children.
