County Health Rankings and Roadmaps to Health Prize
The County Health Rankings show the rank of the health of nearly every county in the nation and illustrate that much of what affects health occurs outside of the doctor’s office. The rankings are a unique tool that can aid your efforts as a Let’s Move! Cities, Towns and Counties site, and provide local-level data on factors such as:
- Adult obesity
- Physical inactivity
- Children in poverty
- Drinking water safety
- Access to recreational facilities
- Fast food restaurant prevalence
- Level of access to healthy foods
The Rankings are unique in their ability to measure the overall health of each county in all 50 states on the many factors that influence heath. They have been used to garner support among government agencies, healthcare providers, community organizations, business leaders, policymakers, and the public for local health improvement initiatives. The County Health Roadmaps is an additional tool that shows what we can do to create healthier places to live, learn, work and play.
