In November, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in collaboration with the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), launched a new health education curriculum called EatPlayGrow™: Creative Activities for a Healthy Start. EatPlayGrow is the most recent curriculum to be included in We Can!, and it combines the latest science and research from the NIH with CMOM’s creative educational approach to teach children ages 2-5 and their parents how to make healthy nutrition and physical activity choices. The new program was adapted from the We Can! Energize Our Families Parent Program, which was originally geared to parents of children ages 8-13.
EatPlayGrow was created through an innovative public-private partnership between the NIH and CMOM. Now, staff from both organizations are joining together on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014, from 12-2pm EST, to present a webinar training on the curriculum. This training will provide an overview of the program and its development and testing; and it will include an in-depth discussion of the key concepts in several sample sessions. The training will also include time for questions and answers. EatPlayGrow is an ideal curriculum to launch in a childcare center, school, museum, community center, faith-based organization, public library, or any other community location where parents and their young children come to learn, be active, and have fun!
Individuals who participate in at least 90 minutes of the two-hour training will be eligible to receive a certificate of participation, upon request.
